Finbar's Mother Nora met his father Ted at Puck Fair and they later married in Castleisland, Co Kerry - this is them walking out.

"I played a concert in Mountjoy a few years ago for the prisoners there and a young man from Ballyfermot spoke to me after about his guilt at the hurt he had caused his mother by getting into trouble. She put a brave face on it always when visiting, but he knew how it rended her heart to see him there."

This is a song about young men who emigrated looking for work, never made it  and couldn't return home because their pride would not let them.  They still hold Ireland in their hearts and dreams."

With the passing of the baton, Finbar's daughter Áine offers up her first U.S. solo release, "Cross My Palm," also on Cosmic Trigger records.

From the opening track "Sligo Fair" we are in the presence of something very special here, an achingly beautiful voice with supreme control. Áine moves effortlessly from dark to light ballads, accompanied by strings or acoustic guitars, percussion and bass, always tastefully arranged, with minimal reverb. From traditional to the contemporary likes of John Prine's "Hello in There" and Edie Brickell's "Circle," Áine recalls the likes of Judy Collins, Nanci Griffith, Linda Thompson and, keeping it in the Irish family, Mary Black

Between Garry O'Briain's production, Martin's compositions, some fine string players anof course Áine, "Cross My Palm" is one of the great surprises and treasures this year. Áine is hoping to tour the East Coast of the U.S. soon – look out for her!

Áine Furey's Sweetest Summer Rain is her first solo recording, and she brings  with her plenty of irish traditional music experience from her time playing with her famous family. Many of the songs were written by her brother, Martin,  now touring with  the High Kings
